Slowing down

Since living here, I try to really have time to slow down and take more control on what I love doing so that it doesn’t go buried under other routine activity.
The other day, I had the afternoon
off and I was torn between the prospects of doing nothing and stay inside or
going outside and explore a bit more. Because it was grey and the leaves were
starting to change colours, I chose to go outside and spend some time in the
very heart of Paris. The weather was perfect to me, perfect for an autumnal
exploration. Discovering a city with someone is always amazing and can lead you
to have great moments, but doing it by yourself has always meant for me to
pouch my boundaries. In this sense, I tell myself to go outside alone, to not
plan too much and see what happens. I love walking with no purpose and just
looking up, taking pictures and smile because I see beautiful things. That’s
the thing isn’t it? When you actually take the time to look out for beautiful
things, you find so many of them. And Paris is beautiful everywhere, it would
be a shame to not absorb more of it.
I just walked around a bit before
returning home to my cutty cat. With a nice cup of tea, I baked a butternut
cake which smelled amazing in the flat. With some nice music and the cold
outside, I thought it was perfect because of its simplicity. No rushing, no
grumpiness, no running to catch the metro. Nothing but slowing down and
enjoying it. And let me tell you, it felt great!

I know that slowing down in our busy
life is complicated and we may not have the time to do so on a daily basis, but
sometimes it can be way easier than what you think.
Just look up a bit more, admire the simple things of your daily life
A cat purring, a kiss from your love
one, a smile, your favorite jumper, a good book. Anything is good to catch and
cherish. I truly believe that, and it makes my life so easy to be full.
Happiness don’t have to be found in great and amazing unordinary moments
because you will always wait for it. But when you try to open your eyes a bit
more and enjoy little details of daily life, trust me, life will be far more
beautiful than it looks.
What has
been your pretty little thing that made you smile lately?
